PALEO is a research group (GIR) of the University of Cantabria attached to the International Institute for Prehistoric Research-IIIPC. Its main objective is the study of the dynamics of change in the societies of Prehistory. It particularly focuses on the dynamics and historical population groups neanderthals and the terms and conditions as paleoenvironmental that are part of these changes, as well as their relationship with the strategies subsistenciales and organisational these populations. These issues are key in the understanding of the changes that have been the engine of the history of humanity, and the ways of life of hunter-gatherer societies.
In PALEO these central issues on the agenda of the Prehistory are discussed from the reconstruction and analysis of (1) the technical processes associated with the tools in stone and bone, (2) uptake systems and resource consumption of animals and plants, (3) the patterns of territorial and the use of space, or (4) the emergence of behaviors symbolic.
